Quilt of Valor presented to several Veterans in Argonia and Wellington

first_imgby Pam Strader, Sumner Newscow — On Veteran’s Day, members of the South Central Kansas Quilters presented “Quilts of Valor” to several local veterans in recognition of their years of service. Virgil Coley, who serviced in the U.S. Army, and Carl Freeman (U.S. Army), Billy Holden (U.S. Marine Corp),  Gary Parks (U.S. Army), Rick Nafziger (U.S. Army) were presented quilts at Argonia High School. Veterans Casimo Campa (U.S. Navy) and Jimmie Hubbard (U.S. Air Force) were presented quilts in Wellington at the Wal-Mart Super Center. During each ceremony, the Veterans were “wrapped”  in the Quilt of Valor as it was presented to each of them individually.  If you would like to join the Quilt of Valor group, donate materials, or nominate a local veteran,  please contact Joan Hemberger at: [email protected] or Rita Figg at: [email protected]  The group also has a Facebook Page (click here). Pictured below are a few of the Veterans receiving their Quilts of Valor.
