Virat Kohli to attend press conference on July 29 ahead of West Indies tour

first_imgIndia captain Virat Kohli will speak to the press ahead of the team’s departure to the United States and the West Indies for the full tour on Monday in Mumbai, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed. It was earlier reported that Virat Kohli, in a departure from regular practice, would not be attending a press conference ahead of the team’s trip for US. India will be playing 2 T20Is in Florida from August 3 before heading to the Carribean for the remainder of the tour. Kohli’s men are playing 3 T20Is, as many ODIs and 2 Tests against the West Indies. The BCCI has said that Kohli will be attending the pre-departure press conference in Mumbai around 6 PM on Monday. Rumours of rift between India captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma had given rise to speculations of the team doing away with the pre-departure press conference.Although both Rohit and Kohli have not spoken anything on the issue, the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) said the matter will not be considered unless the players themselves bring it up to its notice.Rohit Sharma’s Instagram activity though added fuel to fire. The India vice-captain who has not been following Kohli for quite some time now, has apparently “unfollowed” Anushka Sharma on Instagram last week.Meanwhile, Virat Kohli attended the opening match of the Mumbai leg of Pro Kabaddi 2019 at NCSI Dome in Worli on Saturday. The India cricket team captain heaped rich praise on Indian kabaddi stars for raising the profile of the sport.advertisementKohli also picked players from the Indian cricket team for a kabaddi team. He did not think twice before including the likes of MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav and Rishabh Pant but maintained that he wouldn’t select himself.”It requires a lot of strength and athleticism. So I would say, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav. Umesh is really strong. Rishabh Pant as well. I would say Bumrah because he can really work on a toe-touch. One more… I am not even going to include myself because these guys are stronger and more athletic. The last one would be KL Rahul. That’s my seven,” Virat Kohli told Star Sports.India tour of West Indies 2019 – Full ScheduleT20I series scheduleAugust 3 (Sat), 1st T20I at Fort Lauderhill, Florida, 8 PM IST (10:30 AM local)August 4 (Sun: 2nd T20I at Fort Lauderhill, Florida, 8 PM IST (10:30 AM local)August 6 (Mon): 3rd T20I at Providence Stadium, Guyana, 8 PM IST (10:30 AM local)India’s squad for 3 T20Is: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep SainiODI series scheduleAugust 8 (Thu): 1st ODI at Providence Stadium, Guyana, 7 PM IST (09:30 AM local)August 11 (Sun): 2nd ODI at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad, 7 PM IST (09:30 AM local)August 14 (Wed): 3rd ODI at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad, 7 PM IST (09:30 AM local)India’s squad for 3 ODIs: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kedar Jadhav, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Navdeep SainiTest series scheduleAug 22 (Thu) – Aug 26 (Mon): 1st Test, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua, 7 PM IST (09:30 AM local)Aug 30 (Fri) – Sep 03, (Tue): 2nd Test, Sabina Park, Jamaica, 8 PM IST (09:30 AM local)India’s squad for 2 Tests: Virat Kohli (Captain), Ajinkya Rahane (VC), Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, C Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant (WK) Wriddhiman Saha (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh YadavAlso Read | Change could be good: Robin Singh targets India head coach jobAlso Read | India tour of West Indies full schedule: Dates, Venues and Timelast_img read more
