MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – An 11-foot female sawfish was found dead Tuesday afternoon near Marvin Key.The 400 to 500 pound sawfish will be studied by scientists in Port Charlotte, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. A Lower Keys marine deputy helped the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission when callers reported finding the protected fish near Marvin Key at about 2 p.m.Monroe County deputies said the fish was loaded onto the sheriff’s office patrol boat and was later taken by FWC to the Port Charlotte lab.
