After going through the stress that comes with finals, I encourage you all to use some time over the next few weeks to practice self-care, relax and recharge over winter break.Self-care can be defined as any activity that fuels the body and mind, and allows one to function more fully in daily life. Practicing self-care means doing activities that help make you feel better emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally.Examples of self-care activities can include making a list of things you are grateful for, going on a hike or long walk outside on a nice day, reading your favorite book or watching your favorite movie, spending quality time with a good friend or loved one, indulging in some comfort food, or spending time doing a favorite hobby. Be mindful and enjoy yourself in the moment of your self-care activity—you’ve earned it!If you’re graduating this week, congratulations! I wish you the best of luck in the future. If you are returning after winter break, I’ll see you in January.Akirah Bradley,Dean of Students and Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairscenter_img Published: Dec. 18, 2017 last_img
