Arkansas State has earned the No. 1 seed in the inaugural league championship, while Stephen F. Austin will be the second seed. No. 1 Arkansas StateThe Red Wolves enter the championship as the third-ranked team in the nation according to both the NCAA RPI and the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. Arkansas State was the 2008 NCAA runner-up and has an overall record of 68-27 this year. The Red Wolves will face No. 8 Louisiana Tech in the first round. No. 2 Stephen F. AustinThe Ladyjacks come into championship with the fifth-best RPI nationally and a NTCA ranking of No. 5. Stephen F. Austin has posted four top-10 finishes this year, while recording 73 wins and only 34 losses. SFA takes on No. 7 Monmouth in the opening round. No. 4 Sam Houston StateThe reigning NCAA national champion Bearkats enter the championship as the NTCA No. 7 team in the nation with the seventh-best RPI. Sam Houston holds an 85-40 record this season and has a 47-34 record versus the nation’s top 20 teams. Sam Houston State will take on fifth-seeded Valparaiso in the first round. The SBL Championship will be completed as a double-elimination tournament consisting of best-of-seven Bakers matches. The championship boasts of six top-25 programs based on the RPI ratings, including four of the nation’s top seven teams. No. 8 Louisiana TechThe Lady Techsters hold the 34th-best RPI in the nation and hold an overall record of 36-44. Louisiana Tech will start play in the championship against the top-seeded Red Wolves. No. 6 TulaneThe Green Wave are claiming a RPI that is 25th in the nation as they come into the championship with 61 wins and 47 losses on the year. Tulane will have a first-round matchup with No. 3 seed Vanderbilt. Saturday’s first round matches will get underway at 9:30 a.m. CT followed by second round matches at 11:15 a.m. Third round matches will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and the day will finish with the fourth round at 4:15 p.m. The championship will conclude Sunday with the fifth round beginning at 9:35 a.m. followed by the championship match at noon. If the undefeated team loses in the championship match, a final match will be played at 1:45 p.m. Sunday to determine the champion. No. 3 VanderbiltThe sixth-ranked Commodores also hold the sixth-best RPI and have had much postseason success in recent years. Vanderbilt was the 2007 NCAA national champion and a NCAA title runner-up in 2011 and 2013. The Commodores have a league-high 88 wins on year and only 38 losses. Vanderbilt is scheduled for a first-round matchup with sixth-seeded Tulane. Single-day passes for Saturday or Sunday are available for $10. Two-day passes are $15. Children under the age of five and students at Southland Bowling League institutions are free with a valid student ID. The Southland Bowling League was formed earlier this year and by the formalization as a league, the association can qualify for an NCAA automatic bid no later than the 2017 national championship. Until an automatic qualification is provided, Southland Bowling League members will be at-large candidates for the NCAA Championship. Vanderbilt claimed the No. 3 seed, while Sam Houston State earned the fourth seed. The eight-team field also includes Valparaiso as the fifth seed, Tulane as the No. 6 seed, Monmouth as the seventh seed and Louisiana Tech as the eighth and final seed. Seeding for the championship is solely based off of the current NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) rankings.
